For parents &caregivers
Treatment should start as soon as lymphoedema is diagnosed and assessed — but it's always adapted to your child's age, symptoms and stage of development.

Early management helps control swelling, protect the skin and reduce the risk of future complications. Not every child needs the same treatment straight away: some babies with mild swelling may simply need careful observation, since lymphatic function can improve as the system matures, while others with more significant swelling benefit from early compression, skin care and family education.
As children grow, treatment is reviewed regularly, and compression garments, exercise and other aspects of care are adjusted to support normal growth and participation in school and family life.
