In infants and very young children, bandaging is used only in selected situations, since their skin is delicate and they grow rapidly, so treatment must be carefully adapted. For many children, made-to-measure compression garments are enough on their own; bandaging may be recommended when swelling is more severe, when the limb shape makes garments difficult to fit, or during periods of intensive treatment before a garment is fitted. Parents and caregivers may be taught safe bandaging techniques if regular treatment at home is needed.
